Mary Elizabeth O’Connor Mitchell was the light of my life. 

We were together for seventy amazing years. Together, we raised a family and proudly traveled the world in support of the United States Air Force. Together, we faced times of enormous personal joy and tremendous personal pain….all a part of life’s story. Together, we chose to make Vero Beach our permanent home and together, we made a commitment to work for the betterment of the people of Indian River County.

When Mary passed away in the VNA Hospice House in 2010, I was determined to find a way to honor her that would ultimately help the people of Indian River County.

To that end, the Mary E. Mitchell Fund for Health Information Technology at the VNA was established. 

Together, we can build a philanthropic legacy that will provide state-of-the-art technological solutions in support of medical records management and patient healthcare information that will benefit patients, their families and clinicians for generations to come.  

I envision this fund growing to continually support and sustain cutting-edge advances in electronic communication used by VNA clinicians in the field to support the needs of home health and hospice clients and patients right here in Indian River County.
